the worst NS has to offer

Today begins Week #3 of Nutrisystem.  I’m okay with it so far.  I like the idea of having prepackaged food, and just heating things up.  You might remember that I’m lazy and I hate to cook.  The only food I’m cooking is vegetables… steamed broccoli and cauliflower, green beans, etc.

Nutrisystem things I will NOT order again:

>NS Plain Pretzels and NS Garlic Parmesan Snack-A-Rounds have a good crunch, but no taste.  A gal needs more than just a crunch.

>NS Chicken Pot Pie.  People, this was the worst chicken pot pie in the history of chicken pot pies!  Sorry Nutrisystem, but a monkey could have made a better pot pie. I posted a picture of the box right there.  Looks nothing like the real thing.  Let me describe to you guys what it really looked like.  Picture it, Sicily... ha!  Picture it... two small 1/2" slices of potato, 4 tiny cubed carrots, 8 chunks of dark chicken, all in a chicken-flavored liquid with a pastry type cracker placed on top of it all.  It was awful! I kid you not, The Worst NS has to offer.

Nutrisystem things I will order again:

>NS Vegetarian Chili is okay - tasted a lot like ranch beans.

>NS Vinegar and Salt Snack-A-Rounds have great crunch!  Not quite sure if I like the taste or not, but when I eat them, they do a little dance on my tongue, and I enjoy the dance.

Praying, listening to music, meditation and coffee have worked to help me get through some fierce craving episodes.   I didn’t eat NS every day – at a cookout I ate a hamburger, a hot dog, some potato chips and I drank two beers.  I'm not a beer fan, but this was coffee beer.  It was good.

I was on Spring Break last week, and only exercised twice.  Once, I cleaned house, and the other time, I walked to my friend and neighbor Lisa's house, and asked her if she wanted to come out and play, I mean walk.  Her and Cindy walk most weekday evenings, so I was hoping to join them.  Well let me tell you, Lisa has a long stride and a very quick pace!  As we walked, my short legs were working overtime, and my hips felt like they were going to lock up on me. After 30 minutes of run/walking I told Lisa I couldn't take another step, because I was fixin' to die!  As I crawled back down to the end of the street, Lisa watched to make sure I got home okay.  She's such a sweetheart.

My next month's order of Nutrisystem will go through on the 21st.  I've gone in and changed my selections like a gazillion times.  I need to continue getting used to eating smaller amounts of food, eating several times during the day and trying to get it in my head that food is not where I should be getting happiness.  I’m not a preachy person, but I finally realize the things that really matter… doing for others, trying to make the world a better place, improving myself, being a good example... these things are what I'm working on now.  Wish I had had this conviction when I was younger.  Like Oscar Wilde said, “With age comes wisdom…”

Wait a minute.  Wait just a minute!  After saying that goody good stuff, let me be totally honest with you and clarify something right here and now.  I try to do what I mentioned above.  I really try, but most of you know that I’m not always that sweet.  Mostly, like 95% of the time, I’m angry and snarky.  Now that’s the truth of it.

Gees!  I almost forgot!  Today is a weigh day!  Here goes, I’m stepping on the scale.  Drum roll please!  My current weight is... 206That means a loss of 6 more lbs!  I knew I had lost weight again, but didn't think it would be this much. That means a loss of 12 lbs. with NS, and a total of 27 lbs lost since February 2016.

Thank you for reading and thank you for going on this journey of fitness with me.  I just love you guys to pieces.

Y'all don't forget to listen to my brother Mark and his beautiful wife Kay, on Wednesdays at noon on "Hanging With the Hayters"!  Go to
